Thought I’d write a bit about some things people ask frequently as well as some things we like people to understand about our style. We try to be an old school, traditional style farm builder that makes things that will last a hundred years. Occasionally people expect something to be built in a way and it just isn’t what we do. For example Drawer slides. Many people are enamored with new fangled drawer slides, metal rails, easy open and close, self closing, etc and etc. That’s not what we prefer to do here or really want to become. Why? Very simple, I’ve had enough of new fangled gadgets to last me a lifetime. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had bearings fall out of those metal slides, they came off the track and then I’m fighting made trying to fix something I paid a fortune for. So if you buy a nightstand, a dresser or anything with a drawer in it, remember it’s going to be old school. Old fashioned wooden drawer slides like my great grandfather built a 100 years ago and still works today. If you want that new fangled crap that will fail eventually just ask and I’ll try and accommodate you…lol.
A commonly asked question is this. Are your tables protected? Of course they are. Why would you build a table with no clear coat protection? I don’t know but one massive company does and touts NATURAL FINISH. And a natural finish is fine, I love wood and the grain and but spill a glass of wine or some grape juice or orange juice on a table with no clear coat protection on it and watch it be stained permanently. So all of our are clear coated. If you don’t want it that way just say so. And clear coat protection doesn’t have to be all shiny and plastic looking. There are lots of ways to tone down clear coat and even give it an extra layer of protection like simple paste wax.
Just remember if you have a question, we are a phone call away, don’t hesitate to call or email. What’s important is that you get what you want, how you want it and with no surprises.
